Place to post and discuss THRASH METAL!
RULES (MUST READ):
- Please keep things relevant to thrash (death thrash, blackened thrash, crossover, speed metal etc. are permitted). While we understand it is subjective, if a moderator believes a song to stray too far from thrash, it will likely be locked. Please do not take this personally. Repeat offenders may see posts removed.
- Please search before posting a song, do not repeat posts.
- Friendly debate is encouraged.
- When posting a song use the format of "Band - Song [FFO: band1, band2]". This just helps keep things uniform. The "FFO" (For Fans Of) section is optional. It is for lesser known bands. (Stole this idea from the Death Metal community).
- No racist, sexist, blah blah blah... you get the idea. This is not the place to discuss sensitive matters.
- No NSFW content (apart from songs/album covers. If they do include NSFW content, please mark the posts as such).
- Post in English only (obviously you can post songs in different languages).
- But most of all have fun XD.

"Crossover thrash" applies to their post 2000 stuff only, basically this is kind of an Exploited revival like so many others around y2k. Their older releases are pretty straight punk/street punk. Actually one of the bands defining (British) punk rock back in the late 1970s. They were just on tour, btw, first time in years if not in decades. Saw them in Berlin's pretty legendary SO36, they sounded not much different to last time I seen them which must have been 1989 or 1988. ๐
Awesome and informative! Had no clue this was after they basically reinvented their sound. Called it classic since it seemed highly rated from nearly 30 years ago. Metal Archives placed them in a similar camp to Discharge, so I simply assumed they were always crossover thrash.
I'm suspecting that Discharge too might be a little older than you think. Nevertheless Discharge certainly go into the crossover drawer, even if their style was known as "Hardcore Punk" back then. The term "Crossover" was mostly used in the Jazz/Fusion scene until about '87 when D.R.I.s namely album was released.
Definitely! I only fairly recently started getting over my aversion to crossover, thanks to taking a more hands-on role here of posting a track every single day. Some of the appeal of certain bands still eludes me, like Municipal Waste, but I'm definitely delving more into the genre as a whole, historically or otherwise.
