As an ex-right immigrant this might be interesting to read.
My first interaction with people was the republican neighbour asking about the barbecue culture in my country. Not online communities on Lemmy
I mixed up the political sides completely. Since our neighbor is a worker and right-wing then I guess left would be the CEOs?
Those first impression were the only impressions. I can't vote so I didnt go learn political system when I have school and work.
(This one is a middle-eastern thing only.)
In highschool lgbtq+ people would assume I was brainwashed and start lecturing me on evils of Shariah as soon as they learned where I am from.
That felt geniuenly bad. You can imagine how my friend group formed up over time.
My first actual positive interaction I can remember with the left was when I got curious about computers and started learning Linux.
