In the UK you'll often see teenage boys wearing big thick black jackets in the peak of summer. Even when it can be in the mid 30Cs. I've no idea what drives them to make such decisions.

Black North Face jackets, almost every lad from the ages of 14-35 has one lol

Yep! Although it's usually teenagers that wear them in totally absurd conditions.

I wonder if it's a style thing, or for hiding things that a roadman might need.

It's almost definitely knives.

While when I visited the UK in October/November way back, every geezer over the age of 50 ran around in shorts. Even when it was like 10C. I've no idea what drives them to make such decisions.

I'm way under 50 but I'll be wearing shorts until October or November! My legs don't feel the cold as much as the rest of my body and it's just more comfortable than wearing trousers.

Shit, I'd wear a jacket too if it was somehow in the 30s in June.

[–] blackn1ght@feddit.uk 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Really? How warm would it have to be for you to not wear a jacket?

Some context for my joke: I'm an American.

If the stereotype is accurate, I'm thinking knives.
