(Disco mostly averts the trope -- more evidence that it's got its stick up its ass -- and I haven't seen Picard or Strange New Worlds yet.)

If you're not planning on watching Strange New Worlds anytime soon(or rather, don't care about a few spoilers):

There is a crossover episode with Lower Decks and Strange New Worlds, and it's worth watching. It's only mentioned in passing in LD, so many people don't know that it happened if they haven't watched SNW.
