Think long and hard about what you actually believe, and who you actually trust, before jumping in on this one.

I thought about it.
This post (if you can see it, and if you can't I will post a summary in a further reply -- still not sure how tumblr handles this sort of thing so I do apologise in advance) was triggered by something that happened when I signed up to a different social media site.
Two days after I joined, I posted an adapted quote from Harry Potter, and was told that it was against the "implicit rules" of the site. I made it clear I wasn't supporting the author, but that I had no desire to stop talking about Harry Potter.
I was told that it was going to be made an explicit rule, so I asked if I could delete my account, at which point I was banned and my account was deleted. Because I wanted to quote, write about and discuss Harry Potter in a positive manner. Not the author -- I made that perfectly clear -- just the world
I am all for boycotting the author. No merch, no books, no streaming, no cinema trips.
But activities that can't possibly increase her wealth and bring people joy? Not to mention spread messages of equality, tolerance, freedom and such?
Yeah, that I don't understand. And am never going to understand.
