no he deserves jail, the death penalty would be too merciful

[–] Draces@lemmy.world 9 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

They can spend decades on death row going through appeals. I would be content with him being in jail knowing the day of his execution. It's not going to happen but that does seem like a fitting end

you're aware that america is one of the few countries that actually executes people? if you're anti facist you should also be anti execution

you’re aware that america is one of the few countries that actually executes people?

I'm aware. What's your point in this entirely theoretical situation?

if you’re anti facist you should also be anti execution

Uh no? What? Those aren't contradicting beliefs. What a weird false statement.

I generally am against capital punishment. This would be an exception

executing people for political reasons or crimes is facism, no exceptions

[–] Draces@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Tell that to Mussolini or Gaddafi

just because they're a bad person doesn't mean it's ok to kill them

[–] nomy@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

And the state executing a convicted criminal doesn't mean it's an inherently fascist action. Perhaps you could make the argument if you're an anarchist or coming at it from that angle, but I'd disagree.

[–] stebo02@sopuli.xyz -2 points 2 weeks ago

then explain to me why America is one of the few "democratic" countries that still does executions?

[–] Draces@lemmy.world 0 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

That's entirely you're opinion. Ironically a little fascist to tell me I can't have my own lol. I think it's a very good thing when a mass killer is stopped even if it costs them their life. You can have your opinion it doesn't make it any more correct than mine

[–] stebo02@sopuli.xyz -2 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

you are allowed to have different opinions I'm just saying i don't agree with killing people for whatever reason

a mass killer can also be stopped by putting them in jail, and even better if they get therapy so they can rejoin society as a better person

[–] Draces@lemmy.world 0 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Literally Hitler was put in jail. It didn't stop him. You're welcome to your opinion but wanting fascist dead is pretty anti fascist. Wanting them in jail is too

[–] stebo02@sopuli.xyz 0 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

That was before he was in power so I don't see how that's relevant. Are you suggesting he should've been killed instead? Are you gonna kill every single criminal that might become a fuhrer someday?

[–] Draces@lemmy.world 0 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

You're getting dumber every comment, it's a little surreal.

executing people for political reasons or crimes is facism, no exceptions

Wanting Hitler executed does not make you a fascist. We're done here weirdo

[–] stebo02@sopuli.xyz 0 points 2 weeks ago

wanting him dead before he became a facist leader does

[–] nieminen@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

I am against execution as well, but I believe treason is still a hanging offense, and he's obviously treasonous.

He's eaten enough of my taxes. Throw him out of a window.
