Reminds me of milk deliveries in reusable bottles. There's probably loads of examples but the petroleum industry really made a killing of profit with plastics and some very sensible packaging went out of the window.

I have a local co op grocer that has milk in those glass bottles. It a $3 deposit for the bottle and you just bring your empty back when you buy a new one or want a refund.
