That's the only explanation that makes some sense to me. I have no clue what this could mean otherwise.
My first thought is that it’s misogyny. There are certainly people think that women exist to reproduce. However, I thought the generally accepted definition for “geriatric” in obgyn was 35. I’m not sure why 28 would be the cut off. Maybe that’s when women start to lose their sexual appeal to those men? The flip side of course is that men have infinite potential so 28 is just the start.
I do agree that transitioning ticks all the boxes without footnotes.
That's commonly seen as 'spinster' age in several East Asian countries, like China and Japan. I don't know how that came to be historically, but 27 or 28 is generally considered to be the age a woman should be married by.
