That's the only explanation that makes some sense to me. I have no clue what this could mean otherwise.

My first thought is that it’s misogyny. There are certainly people think that women exist to reproduce. However, I thought the generally accepted definition for “geriatric” in obgyn was 35. I’m not sure why 28 would be the cut off. Maybe that’s when women start to lose their sexual appeal to those men? The flip side of course is that men have infinite potential so 28 is just the start.

I do agree that transitioning ticks all the boxes without footnotes.

It's the whole women are only valuable when young while men are more valuable when they're older.

Probably, but nobody should listen to idiots.

[–] Zorque@lemmy.world 6 points 4 weeks ago

That's probably why the quote was re-imagined as referring to trans-positivity instead.

Also a lot of misogynists don't believe women can age like a fine wine

I’m not sure why 28 either, but ‘red pill’ idiots definitely push the once a woman is 30 it’s all over.

I'm not sure why 28 would be the cut off.

That's commonly seen as 'spinster' age in several East Asian countries, like China and Japan. I don't know how that came to be historically, but 27 or 28 is generally considered to be the age a woman should be married by.

Friend of mine is the same age as I am (born in the 80s) and she's hot as fuck. Sadly married. peaked at 28... 🙄

[–] hddsx@lemmy.ca 4 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Why is it sad that she is married?

[–] SeductiveTortoise@piefed.social 1 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

because I'm really into her

[–] hddsx@lemmy.ca 11 points 4 weeks ago (2 children)

If she’s happy in her marriage, be happy for her

[–] Evkob@lemmy.ca 5 points 4 weeks ago

Too late, it sounds like he fuck-zoned her.

He is saying a woman's value is only linked to her looks while a man's value is linked to his status (money). At 28, a person's age starts to show (ending for woman) while their career is probably beginning to take off (starting for men).

It's obviously a disgusting comment.

I think maybe the twitter post implies that they were a couple and broke up and the man starts to live again (because freed ?) but the woman doesn't ??

[–] SeductiveTortoise@piefed.social 3 points 4 weeks ago

Didn't work for me 😞

Especially since you can read it like Jaqen H’ghar would say it.
