I'd like to see one of these posts you're referring to in which someone says "it's okay that crackheads fill kids parks with needles and steal from businesses in the community" because you're the only one I've ever heard say that.
I'm actually okay with it. I mean I'm not but it's the symptom not the cause. If your aggregate behavior is so fuvkong vile, thats just the kid you keep in your basement, the portrait you keep in your attic, and you deserve that reminder. You probably deserve a lot worse, because that's a person there.
Plus, stealing from businesses is cool.
And if you interact with people as if they're people, you really have nothing to worry about from unhoused populations.
This one. Most police aren't called because there's a tent in the woods. It's when the garbage piles up, needles end up in the park and cars and homes get broken into.
But that's not what this post is about - you brought that hypothetical into it.
I don't think it's far-fetched to say that some people like to call the cops or the manager just because they see something they think is illegal - even if it doesn't bother them.
I'm sure there's a specific term for the fallacy you're committing there.

But that is. It's integral to the issue. If that part is just ignored then there are serious issues here. Missing that critical understanding means this post is just about dividing a wedge between people on the left who have absolutely no risk or skin in the game vs people who do. It's simple for someone with no kids living downtown to say 'just ignore it guys' vs someone with kids who doesn't want their kid walking past an unmedicated schizophrenic everyday on their way to school. People don't generally call just because there's a tent. It's when the tent becomes 4 or 6 or 12 and the problem grows. Ignoring all that is no different than right wing media spreading their bullshit to push the right into their own radical lane.
Lemmy is r/the_donald.
Honestly please just try to see if you can see it. I think if we all believe the right changed in 2016 from online activity like IRA then why are people so blind you that on the left. The focus has shifted. It's the left turn now.
I would advocate for tax dollars to go to helping homeless any day. I fully support community support and anything to help. At the same time I don't feel comfortable treating homeless like they're cute Disney animals in the forest and infantilizing them. They don't just sit in their tent playing cards all day.
Fuck me, your prejudice really shows.
I repeat: you made it about something else. Please make a post about it and discuss it there. If anybody is driving a wedge (I assume that is what you wanted to say) here, it is you.
No it isn't. You're the r/the_donald
calls Lemmy the_Donald. advocates against the homeless. well trolled, milord. missed an opportunity to work in a joke about clearing them out with the national guard, but otherwise a 10/10 untouchable cretin
Looking at their replies, esp. their insistence that they're a leftist, this is typical paid troll behavior.
Yea totally because fringe ideas and polarizing meme posts that push in vs out group think over difficult or complex topics that get drilled down to America fuck yea" or "see someone stealing, no you didn't" is not something you'd see on the right. It's not like I ever heard people from the Donald trying to say they're just protecting children when talking about abortion or trans issues.
we should do a study on the correlation of illiteracy and these standpoints
Yea like words such as infer and implied aren't taught in English or media studies already. Give the head a shake
what the fuck are you talking about
whatever scary thing you're worried they're going to do, it's because of this attitude that they should be, what, finished off? crushed the remainder of the way? that creates enemies where there were none
Who is finished off
It literally does not say that.
Right because it's propaganda. It's purposely vague and general to mislead and create division about perceived serotypes and in vs out group think.
