With that many men, wouldn't it be easier to just build new towers progressively closer to the target?

Yeah this feels more like that huge train cannon the Nazis built but hardly used.

The issue is building a new tower while the enemy pelts you with projectiles is harder than moving an already-built-and-armored-tower.

Also, a lot of material wastage in building multiple towers.
