I'm keeping an eye on Kotozakura tomorrow. He's 5-1 so far in this tournament and looks better than he has all year. However, he hasn't yet beaten any of the opponents that defeated him in the previous tournament, where he ended up 8-7. His one loss in this tournament is against Aonishiki, and Aonishiki also won their previous bout. He faces Oho tomorrow. The last time he faced Oho was in the May tournament, and Oho won.
My wife is a big Kotozakura fan so I'm hoping he can keep up the momentum. As much as I love chaos and unexpected results, It's been nice seeing the top rankers in good form. Now just need some Takayasu wins...
Yasss after the last couple tourneys it's so awesome to see Hoshoryu just killing it. His doubters are silent for now.
On the other side of the banzuke, Shishi's actually living up to his potential i.e. racking up some wins.
Takayasu's match vs Aonishiki on day 6 was pretty interesting... I think Takayasu was basically doing what MMA people call take-down defense and it almost works... Takayasu isn't getting a lot of wins, but smart wrestlers are still very wary of him bc he knows what he's doing...
