Black people coined the word "woke" in the 70s. It means "aware of systemic oppression". But the "wider public" steals a word and ruins it, just like in 1984, for the explicit purpose of making it difficult to talk about oppression.

People don't get offended by ordinary words. Nazis gain power by spreading hate. They then turn around and prevent everyone else from being able to speak at all. If you haven't figured that out by seeing it happen, I'm not sure what else to tell you.

1920's

20th century Folk singer-songwriter Lead Belly used the phrase "stay woke" on a recording of his song "Scottsboro Boys".

One of the earliest uses of the idea of wokeness as a concept for black political consciousness came from Jamaican philosopher and social activist Marcus Garvey,[2] who wrote in 1923, "Wake up Ethiopia! Wake up Africa!"[2][6] In a collection of aphorisms published that year, Garvey expanded the metaphor: "Wake up Ethiopia! Wake up Africa! Let us work towards the one glorious end of a free, redeemed and mighty nation. Let Africa be a bright star among the constellation of nations."[6][2] This sentiment was later echoed by singer Lauryn Hill during her 2002 live album MTV Unplugged No. 2.0, where she urged listeners to "wake up and rebel".[11]

Black American folk singer-songwriter Huddie Ledbetter, a.k.a. Lead Belly, used the phrase "stay woke" as part of a spoken afterword to a 1938 recording of his song "Scottsboro Boys", which tells the story of nine black teenagers and young men falsely accused of raping two white women in Alabama in 1931. In the recording, Lead Belly says he met with the defendant's lawyer and the young men themselves, and "I advise everybody, be a little careful when they go along through there (Scottsboro) – best stay woke, keep their eyes open."[2][12] Aja Romano writes at Vox that this usage reflects "black Americans' need to be aware of racially motivated threats and the potential dangers of white America."[2]

Yeah im seeing it every day. I think its bigger than just nazis spreading hate. They have always done that and its not been affecting society. The problem is social media and how peoples opinions are directly formed by the algorithms these days. They are inside complete perception bubbles and want to be protected from seeing outside of it.

You're making a distinction without a difference.

Yeah, people's opinions are formed by algorithms.... Who controls the algorithms? Musk, Zuckerberg, and other right wing billionaires. Facebook turned Boomers and GenX whites into MAGA because the algorithm is controlled by Nazis spreading hate. Every traditional media and social media platform pushes right wing content disproportionately.

They've always done that and it hasn't affected society

LMAO. Are you one of those "Fascism happened so quickly!" people? You just haven't been paying attention.

This is the culmination of a conservative project that's been working on earnest since Reagan. During the Red Scare they fired everyone Left of Eisenhower as a "communist". Then the Lavender Scare they fired all the gay people. The FBI murdered Black Leftists during COINTELPRO. Reagan broke unions in the 80s, and the Federalist Society started taking over the judiciary. Congress used 9/11 as a convenient excuse to pass the Patriot Act and militarize the police. The Tea Party replaced the Republican party with a fascist death cult in the '10s and now we're here.

They haven't really even tried to keep it a secret and activists have been trying to warn you all along. But the Nazis told you we were overreacting, and that "not letting them share their opinion (that certain people should be killed)" was "cancel culture", so you ignored us until the fascism started affecting you.

The algoritms will show more of what people spend time looking at, and it will try to serve you content it thinks will make you stay on the platform as long as possible.

Well yeah, I think fascism has not been so visible before Trump, Musk and social media reinforcing their kind of behavior as ok. I think in general, people are rude and hostile online today. Your post is also not very respectful. So I think you and almost everybody else is just falling heads and shoulders into all of this kind of behavior yourself. And that is the end goal of course, to have people fight eachother.

I believe this is actually a spiritual war behind the surface, and you have to be careful to not become hateful yourself.

So we watched Facebook turned Boomer's and Gen X MAGA. Then we watched Musk turn Twitter completely Nazi.

But you think algorithms are completely unbiased and the REAL problem is that I laugh a little while holding your hand and walking you through stuff you should already know. And at the end of the day, I'm just as responsible as Elon Musk because sometimes I might mention that dumb people are dumb?

Maybe you just refuse to open your eyes. Your "both sides are bad" is what let's the Nazis keep winning and I'm not sorry that I can't keep a perfectly straight face as you drag us all down with you.

if its censoring or removing ordinary words because someone gets offended, im not supporting it.

Your post is also not very respectful. So I think you and almost everybody else is just
