I have a 9 foot cat tower that is tensioned into place against the ceiling. My 14 pound cat flies on and off it like the floor is lava, and it hasn't budged yet

With tall cat trees; if it's not in a corner you've gotta anchor it down. Some even come with brackets to screw them to the wall.
