Overview:

The community dedicated to boycotting the US until they stop fascism, restore full democracy and start following international law.

Americans have a moral obligation to resist Donald Trump and project 2025 at every turn.

America is a flawed democracy currently being ruled by oligarchs. Stop the backslide! Dont let America become the next Hungary.

America needs to challenge the court rulings of citizens united v. fec and shelby county v. holder, protect the media, implement independent district drawing, and the single transferable vote so they don't end up having people stay home in life-changing elections because they cannot vote for their favourite candidate.

Trust them to do what exactly? Were y'all asleep during covid? You can't trust humans to put a mask on during a pandemic. But I don't go into every interaction assuming the worst of the other person. Now if we're talking about the American government? Yeah that's a valid sentiment.

How odd. There's people still wearing masks (about 15-25% of them) in public transit here daily. Between 2020-2023 that was basically 100%.

Are you saying the people around me aren't human? Or are you generalizing from whatever germ-theory-unaware country you live in to human universality?

I'm not sure where the wires got crossed but I'm pro-mask. I was referencing the headline about not being able to trust Americans.

I'm pointing out a major flaw in your wording:

You can't trust humans to put a mask on during a pandemic.

Maybe you can't trust humans in your neck of the wood to mask up. You can in mine. America is not the world. The world doesn't mimic America.

I would say the majority of places had their issues with anti-maskers, otherwise covid wouldn't be endemic no?

[–] ZDL@lazysoci.al 1 points 4 days ago

It's not a huge issue at all in Southeast and East Asia.

Trust them to have basic human decency, trust them to not invade Canada, trust them to rigorously oppose a criminal regime?

As George Carlin said: "Well, where do people think these politicians come from? They don't fall out of the sky. They don't pass through a membrane from another reality. They come from American parents and American families, American homes, American schools, American churches, American businesses and American universities, and they are elected by American citizens. This is the best we can do folks. This is what we have to offer. It's what our system produces: Garbage in, garbage out. If you have selfish, ignorant citizens, you're going to get selfish, ignorant leaders."

They were calling to invade Canada before Trump.

Not impossible but likely very marginal since I've never heard of it.
