Update:

It is with heavy hearts and sadness that we announce the Global Sumud Flotilla vessel "Mikeno" was seized by the Israeli Navy.

The captain, a hero, defied direct Israeli orders to shut his engine down and seize progression. He then went completely dark, shutting off all electronics and maneuvering past their blockade. The "Mikeno" made it within 7NM of the coast of Gaza. The ship was then intercepted, seized, and boarded by naval commandos deployed from multiple Israeli warships with drones flying overhead.

It’s only “RAVAGING the fuckin’ leftist cause” because the politicians who are supposedly on the “left” are reacting to the situation with an infuriatingly neoliberal and Kissinger-esque geopolitical mentality that simply does not align with:

how a very large proportion of western civilians see and understand the situation
how people with deeper historical, socioeconomic, sociopolitical, and diplomatic knowledge understand the situation
the historical nuance of the quagmire
how geopolitics works in general

Or more simply: politicians are continuing to be fucking stupid and miss the moment.

Here’s a thought: pull your head out of your ass, zoom out, and maybe consider that the problem is the people leading the regimes and religions, and that brutal suppression will only beget more brutal suppression - perhaps to you and yours at some point?

I am absolutely NOT saying “invite hardcore Sharia law into your country and neighborhood” - Sharia (as well as the Christian and Jewish flavors of hardline religious law) are categorically fucking stupid and societally caustic, and should be ideologically starved to death to the greatest extent possible. But I AM saying that fighting ideology with bombs is a dumb fucking idea, because all you’re going to do is make those radical ideologies run rampant, and (if you’ll pardon the darkly humorous pun) explode in popularity.

I mean, it’s not prejudiced. It’s in the Quran and discussed amongst Imams/Islamic scholars. Sure, the watered-down Twelvers aren’t going around beheading people in the US, but it’s still a principle of Twelver belief to amass/promote all Islamic growth, including the sects of Islam that do want Sharia law.

Look at Dearborn, Michigan and how the majority Muslim community and city council and mayor are treating non-Muslim citizens, particularly those who are LGBTQ+ immediately upon gaining political/administrative power.

With Islam, the issue is both ideological and based in leadership at the moment. The same goes for Mormons and Hassidics, but the more general and basic versions of those religions don’t promote or encourage the growth of the more “extreme” sects quite like Islam does. Christianity certainly has a chokehold on the US and it’s being wielded in an awful way by the admin. Yet at the root of it the life and teachings of Mohammed and Jesus are RADICALLY and I mean INSANELY RADICALLY different to the point of moral disgust at Mohammed and a passive indifference towards Jesus.

At no point have I said violence solves anything here. I agree that it creates only more radicals/gives them reason for retaliation — justified or not.
