- Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
- No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

Right wing agents in full swing today on Lemmy.
Understand: all this would be stopped in a second if Republicans accepted the Democrat budget proposal. This isnt the D's fault, no matter how many scaremongering propaganda headlines you see trying to convince you that the Democrats should just sign the Republican budget and move on. Things are much better right now in a shutdown than they would be if the Republicans get their budget passed.
Demcrats refused to sign a budget that cut people healthcare. But CNN anchors dont mention that.
I totally see now (as a non american) how magas were so easily duped into considering all MSM bullshit.
They didn't just refuse to sign it, they actually did their job and made a counterproposal that protected funding for Healthcare (among other things). Republicans refused to even acknowledge it and shut the government down.
As an American, your empathy is appreciated but honestly save it for people more worthwhile. There was genuinely a good defense for being MAGA in like 2016, but these people have spent a decade doing nothing but choosing to stick their head in the sand further and further while proof of how fucking bad Trump is piles up around them. They're not duped, they're not brainwashed. They're just cruel, cruel, hateful people.

All I'm saying is that from an outsider's perspective... seeing how your media is reacting to this live... it's not surprising things went this way.
They also haven’t been mentioning how this power that is supposedly being given away, was already handed to the Administration by the Republican Congress and illegitimate Supreme Court.
The CR would've also banned the majority of trans healthcare. A lot of my friends would die if that happened.
Yeah, I've seen some of these right wing folks. They are trying to get us to respond to Trump's inflammatory raids with violence.
I actually think Democrats would not fight as hard if this shutdown wasn't favorable to Republicans. I think Democratic leadership are actually trying to help Trump. Or maybe not actively trying to help but they don't see Republicans achieving their goals as something negative.
Uh, what? If the Democrats oppose Trump, by not agreeing to the budget that he wants, you think they are ... uh ... trying to help him?
Do I have that right? By stopping him from getting what he wants, they're helping him? ... Doesn't sound convincing, but I don't want to misrepresent your position here.
