How much do you wanna make a bet I can throw a football over them mountains?

Well, if coach woulda put me in the fourth quarter, we’d have been state champions. No doubt. No doubt in my mind. You better believe things had been different. I’d have gone pro in a heartbeat. I’d be making millions of dollars and living in a big ol’ mansion somewhere, soaking it up in a hot tub with my soul mate.

Legend has it that Bruce Springsteen's Glory Days is based off of the life of Uncle Rico.

on god though the “former ‘gifted’ child” trope is so fucking tired…

what? people told you that you were special once and then stopped? that’s not special, that’s fucking life. actually special people realize that and keep going. actually special people work past the burnout and genuinely achieve things. what some underpaid 25 yo kid told you in elementary school has no bearing on what you could accomplish and blaming your own failures on it is sad and paltry.

i think most people just can’t accept the cognitive dissonance that their exceedingly average and mediocre lives cause them. wow turns out being actually extraordinary requires exceeding and rare qualities/effort that the vast majority of people lack who knew???

Back in ’82, I used to be able to throw a pigskin a quarter-mile.

I could've sworn there was a 3rd one too, but now I can't find it.
