I think that your attitude towards communication is based off of an assumption that academic centric linguistics are inherently intellectually superior and appropriate for all social situations, and that by having this view you view yourself as intellectually superior to others who do not subscribe to that manner of speaking at all times, and enjoy passing judgement on others as inferior to you because they use the word fuck.
This is a narrow view of linguistics, social dynamics, politics and debate.
The primary goal of that man was to get those ICE agents away from those Hispanic looking people and to leave. These agents are unlikely to have their mind changed with calm, reasonable debate. In fact, these types of people view that style of communication as weak, and would have not been intimidated or moved to leave.
So, in that regard, yes, that was a master class of communication, because he used his words, and only his words, to get two armed people to not kidnap people off of the streets and leave.
A calm, intellectual debate would not have worked.
I suggest that you consider how you attitude is, frankly, a little classist, and narrow in scope.
Now THIS is a masterclass.
