What is Inktober?

Inktober is an annual month-long event when a prompt word will be posted for each day of October.

What is Inktober 52?

Inktober 52 is what happens during the months that aren't October. A new prompt will be posted once a week (typically Thursdays.)

How do I join in?

Simply draw by hand something based on or inspired by the prompt word. It can be inked traditionally (on paper,) or with a digital "ink" brush. The drawing can be anything from a simple doodle to an elaborate illustration. The color of the ink is negotiable.

Cool design! Is that a diluted ink wash for the flames? It looks great, however you've done it. The extra values (both the flames and the face) are really effective against the stark black of the clothing.

Yes, I used a water brush with a couple of ink drops diluted in it. For the record, the design is not mine, it is a character called inferno cop.

Well the execution is just as great as the design! :)

I really like the ink-washed flames. What paper do you use for this? I often find that the paper curls too much or small paper balls come loose. Good watercolor paper is too valuable for simple experiments in the long run.

I'm using a notebook that was put together by an illustrator friend. Not sure about the paper type, I'll ask him when I have a chance.
