I'm new to the Lemmiverse so I'm just starting to learn the history among instances, but I don't understand blocking Lemmy.ml as it's the developer's instance, which also hosts several other significant communities. Just curious why that instance is blocked because I didn't find anything by searching. Thanks.

This is just nonsense. Lemmy.ml is an admin-enforced echo chamber. The only other server that behaves like they do is hexbear.

Saying things that are not true, and swearing to them and getting super-passionate about it and all assuring each other that that's how it happened, is like the bread and butter of some communities. Some people respond a lot more positively to simple confidence than they do to calm evidence and argument.

Ive watched during the 2024 election when saying Kamala was anything less than perfect would get you banned, any critique was simply not allowed, and any negative information about her campaign was treated as sabotage. Im not gonna just forget about that, freedom was traded on the chance that a couple of people might be swayed.
