isn't that federal in the US? not having it would be illegal
In New Hampshire we pay the federal income tax, but there is no state tax on income. In most other states you pay both a state and a federal income tax.
Several states in the US have no state income tax:
i see. so do you think they make enough tax money in NH to maintain everything in good order?
The transportation infrastructure, yes. The local roads are maintained by the local cities and towns. The state highways are maintained by the state department of transportation. Funding comes from a combination of federal gas tax revenue and tolls on the major highways.
Government spending is all about tradeoffs. I'm sure there are other programs that are well funded in other states that don't even exist in New Hampshire.
