It's important to note, as an Australian, that this illustrates very clearly our declining environment through a terrible example of a riparian system with highly degraded vegetation. Without seeing more photos, the shorter grass indicates animal agriculture and grazing to the water's edge, hence the active erosion.

Someone needs to get out there and do something about it. Vote for change or be the change.
