Hello, I have a rather mundane question, but I can’t seem to find a clear answer online. Suppose I’m cycling or running in the UK and I accidentally knock someone over, causing them injury or disability. What type of insurance would cover my liability in such a case?

In some other European countries, home insurance covers civil liability, but this doesn’t appear to be the case in the UK with standard home contents insurance.

I believe a number of home insurance policies will have this kind of cover available as an optional extra.

Thank you. I think you’re right. I went through some Content insurance quotes, and at least it seems to be the case for Admiral, Lemonade, HomeProtect... I’m surprised it’s not as widely advertised as, say, legal assistance or even freezer contents cover 😅
