Wow, per 100 people is a really useful way to understand this stuff...

Crazy no one ever thought of it, maybe we could shorten it down though?

"Per-hundred"? Nah, that doesn't sound right. Well, "cent" is the pre-fix for hundred...

What if we just started using "percent" instead of saying "as 100 people"?

This brilliance knows no precedent! Now we just need an official units symbol to really seal the deal.

(I mean yes, we do have 'percentages'... but clearly the people have spoken)

My brain can't comprehend a large group of people, please come up with something where they're represented by a group of between 85 and 115 people.
