Generally, an artifact should be 100+ years old, but this is a flexible requirement if you find something rare and suitably linked to an era of history, not a strict rule. Anything over 100 is fair game regardless of rarity.

I love they engraved SPQF on this comb for so many reasons.
Franeker is about as far away from Rome as you can get without a boat in Western Europe (debatable if you didn't actually need a boat in Roman times, since most of Frisia was a giant swamp)
Frisians, who are of course to man the direct descendants of the Frisii tribe, make it a point that they were the reason Romans never crossed the Rhine.
