Both countries are run by fanatical lunatics. It‘s basically villains fighting each other.
Their population and the rest of the world has to experience the consequences.
A good part of the population of either country is also supporting, or at least very willingly bowing down to those lunatics.
But another huge part or even the majority hates those clowns.
