Any rapid deployed group requires logistics and support to maintain their position. D-Day succeeded because the airborne troops only had to hold for a few days until the link up with the Normandy beach forces could reach them.

Market garden failed because that linkup failed to reach them. The British in particular lost a lot of troops.

The other 2 gulf wars took months to build up material. I have no idea what build up there is now, but Iran is twice the size of Iraq. Lot of angry people there to greet the US
