World News
A community for discussing events around the World
Rules:
-
Rule 1: posts have the following requirements:
- Post news articles only
- Video links are NOT articles and will be removed.
- Title must match the article headline
- Not United States Internal News
- Recent (Past 30 Days)
- Screenshots/links to other social media sites (Twitter/X/Facebook/Youtube/reddit, etc.) are explicitly forbidden, as are link shorteners.
-
Rule 2: Do not copy the entire article into your post. The key points in 1-2 paragraphs is allowed (even encouraged!), but large segments of articles posted in the body will result in the post being removed. If you have to stop and think "Is this fair use?", it probably isn't. Archive links, especially the ones created on link submission, are absolutely allowed but those that avoid paywalls are not.
-
Rule 3: Opinions articles, or Articles based on misinformation/propaganda may be removed.
-
Rule 4: Posts or comments that are homophobic, transphobic, racist, sexist, anti-religious, or ableist will be removed. “Ironic” prejudice is just prejudiced.
-
Posts and comments must abide by the lemmy.world terms of service UPDATED AS OF OCTOBER 19 2025
-
Rule 5: Keep it civil. It's OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It's NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
-
Rule 6: Memes, spam, other low effort posting, reposts, misinformation, advocating violence, off-topic, trolling, offensive, regarding the moderators or meta in content may be removed at any time.
-
Rule 7: We didn't USED to need a rule about how many posts one could make in a day, then someone posted NINETEEN articles in a single day. Not comments, FULL ARTICLES. If you're posting more than say, 10 or so, consider going outside and touching grass. We reserve the right to limit over-posting so a single user does not dominate the front page.
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

Look, when evidence comes out of USA responsibility, I will be the first to condemn them, to call for murder trials and sending them to the hague.
But we don't have evidence and the constant confident assertion that the USA is responsible really peeves me.
Why? Because you can't consider USA or Israel would intentionally target a school with precision munitions, would be dumb enough to accidentally target a school or think there's other powers in the area that would use precision munitions as a false flag during an actual attack?
Why would you assume I cannot consider two of the three possible events that I listed at the start of this chain?
Because you are still trying to ignore and defect that the US did it, and agure against it when trying to disprove the evidence?
We do have evidence and no you will not ever accept that it is "good" enough evidance.
What is the evidence?
The dead children in a warzone where the us is the aggressor (and israel has denied while the us has not). Oh and then your shitheal of a leader stated on video that they will continue to target schools and kids.
Next your going to try telling us that the Iranian forces bombed their own desalination plants.
If everything Trump said was true then we would be living in a very different timeline. It is not evidence.
To be clear, I'm heavily in support of congress passing a war powers resolution to end Trump's bullshit, I am not defending the USA's actions, but I demand we hold whoever is responsible accountable and part of that is ensuring we find out who it is first.
That said I think things are more nuanced than calling the USA an aggressor, given Iran's involvement in the Gaza Genocide and their slaughtering of their own civilians after recent riots. While I don't agree with Trump's war, I do think we need to be supporting a rebellion against the dictatorship in Iran.
That is the leader of the nation in question, lies or not that is the timeline we live in. Its evidence, its a confession, it is a boast and what he says does matter.
They already caved on that, the states is a broken husk of a democratic nation.
The usa is 100% the aggressor here, not even debatable. There is nothing you can say (even less so in the case of Gaza) that is not going to be the geopolitical equivalent of "but look at what she was wearing".
The recent votes were 47:53 and 210 to 216, along party lines. It's not "caved on" it's that the GOP are worthless assholes who should never be allowed in power.
The vote was passed, I (and everyone else in the real world) do not care about the stupid team bullshit in america.
What ever you think people around the world feel about the usa you are wrong, the opinion is at least twice as bad. No one cares that you voted for kodos, no one cares that the blue or red team did or did not do anything, we live in a world where if your nation starts bombing people in a foreign nation you are the aggressor.
And do you know what happens if the GOP is never allowed in power again? You have a one party state. So you have either a authoritarian government that does not follow the rule of law, or a one party state (but the blue team can feel smug). Grow up and stop pretending things are any type of normal, stop denying what is painfully clear to everyone not glazing the usa.
I don't disagree with your motivations, but pray tell what paradise do you hail from who's gov hasn't engaged in fuckery?
blaming the kids and the ones who worked their guts out to see someone else in office for the criminal's actions seems petty.
You're confused, a War Powers Resolution has not passed because if it does pass it will take power AWAY from trump.
Oh like it matters, your being pedantic. The usa voted to let trump do whatever he wants.
