No achievements in Wolfenstein the New Order through Heroic (www.gog.com)

Hi everyone!

Due to my Playstation 4 version of Wolfenstein the New Order being now only in german after an update, I sold the game and bought it again to replay it on my Steam Deck through Heroic.

I'm enjoying the game as everything works perfectly except that I'm getting no achievements even if my playtime is synchronized to GOG.

Apparently, even on Windows people are having this problem: https://www.gog.com/forum/wolfenstein_series/new_order_achievements_broken/?search=achievements

So in hope of an Idea, I'm turning to Lemmy even if I don't have much hope. Apparently downgrading the version of the game could help, but I can't get a confirmation if it would mean starting from scratch again or not.

I'm running the 1.0.0.2 hotfix version of the game.

Edit: downgrading to 1.0.0.2 through Heroic worked

The issue likely lies with the GOG integration in Heroic: https://github.com/imLinguin/comet

Looking at this ticket: https://github.com/imLinguin/comet/issues/57 It seems the game is problematic and you indeed need to downgrade it. I guess you don't have to restart the game, you are just missing the achievements obtainable only before where you are now in the game.

If it still doesn't work, you can reach out to the maker of Comet, he is really friendly and helpful.

Thanks to you, I managed to downgrade the game and I have now gotten a few achievements.

Thanks a lot! If it doesn’t mean restarting the game, now I'll just have to find a way to downgrade a game through Heroic. Would you know how to do it?

I can only find the ignore update option for now and apparently the rollback feature is only available on GOG Galaxy.

No sorry I don't. Alternatively, you can install galaxy through Steam or Heroic, then install Wolfenstein through galaxy. But this is an hassle.

I saw you posted on the GitHub ticket. I hope you get an answer 👍🏼

I got an answer and it’s pretty easy so I’m posting it here for anyone facing such a problem.

Go to « : », « modify installation », « keep the game at specific version », « select game version ».

I’ll check the next week if the downgrade fixed the issue and report back.
