Flying line of sight is quite difficult. You wouldn't do that indoors either

[–] glimse@lemmy.world 3 points 21 hours ago (2 children)

It's wayyy easier to fly LOS than FPV when you're indoors, especially with a quad this size

[–] recklessengagement@lemmy.world 2 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

Disagree, way easier with a FPV headset than LOS

[–] glimse@lemmy.world 1 points 6 hours ago

Indoors?? You're crazy lol

A tiny whoop maybe, but a full size one like this?

Mind you, I was a terrible pilot when I had one of these. I bought one that was specifically meant to be hard to break, and I still managed to wreck it after a few flights. It's an expensive hobby, if you suck!

Yeah man, FPV in a tight space is hard as hell and the bigger the quad, the smaller the space feels! LOS is almost always way easier if you can see it..assuming it's obvious which way is forward

And don't beat yourself up, crashes happen so it's an expensive hobby even if you DON'T suck.

If you ever want to get back into it, a mobula or meteor is like $100 and you can get a radiomaster pocket for $55. Throw in some batteries and you're flying for under $200!

You like LOS better? I felt like more of my video game motor skills transfer over better with FPV.

I haven't shopped around for a quad in a while, but I still love the idea of that freedom, the pure movement of it. Looks like the old whoop style is still around... Tempting!

Oh no no, I almost exclusively fly FPV. I'm just saying LOS is way easier than FPV indoors

[–] yakko@feddit.uk 1 points 9 hours ago

That's probably true. I've never flown a full size one indoors, too much chance of hitting someone. Those prop lacerations are no joke!
