Ye Power Trippin' Bastards

1760 readers
47 users here now

This is a community in the spirit of "Am I The Asshole" where people can post their own bans from lemmy or reddit or whatever and get some feedback from others whether the ban was justified or not.

Sometimes one just wants to be able to challenge the arguments some mod made and this could be the place for that.

Posting Guidelines

All posts should follow this basic structure:

  1. Which mods/admins were being Power Tripping Bastards?
  2. What sanction did they impose (e.g. community ban, instance ban, removed comment)?
  3. Provide a screenshot of the relevant modlog entry (don’t de-obfuscate mod names).
  4. Provide a screenshot and explanation of the cause of the sanction (e.g. the post/comment that was removed, or got you banned).
  5. Explain why you think its unfair and how you would like the situation to be remedied.

Rules

Expect to receive feedback about your posts, they might even be negative.

Make sure you follow this instance's code of conduct. In other words we won't allow bellyaching about being sanctioned for hate speech or bigotry.

YPTB matrix channel: For real-time discussions about bastards or to appeal mod actions in YPTB itself.

MODERATORS

Apparently I was instance banned for a single downvote on a ~~comment~~ post I disagreed with. I've said before that mods who do this kinda thing are cowards, but I'm honestly not hugely upset about it as I'm not a furry, so whatever. But insulting me in the ban is too much. Grow a fucking spine you pussy, and at least message me if you're too going to insult me with your ban.

Edit: Changed comment to post, for clarity. I assumed it was a comment I downvoted as I tend to interact more in comments.

Edit 2: This got more traction than I expected and I'm glad to see most agree that moderating by voting behavior is childish. I don't condone the transphobia in the comments though. Don't judge people for how they view themselves, judge them for their actions, especially towards others.

Edit 3: Now apparently I'm inciting harassment by posting here. Go fuck yourself. I never even called you out by name.

I kinda hate that votes are tracked. I have vote weights hidden on everything I can, I don't like to let what others vote influence my own votes. I'd even hide the arrows, but I do occasionally vote on something if it's overly positive or negative. I know karma weight doesn't matter like it does on Reddit, but I still think it's a stupid system I mostly don't care about.

I am partially furry (as in, I appreciate anthropomorphic art, and I cosplay a character that is furry-adjacent, so I have a tail and ears), but I don't defend the community when it comes to bizarre shit like this. It hasn't affected me yet. The thing that annoys me is, they will spam furry porn in one community, and the moment a few people block it, they will make a whole other community and spam there instead. Like they really want you to see furry porn. And when it comes to animated, GenAI, CGI, or SFM porn (that is, porn made without real actors), I'm fine with a lot of it, and more than I would be if it were real... but I don't wanna wade through pages and pages of furry porn. (I browse /all.) So I do block communities that spam content. I'm almost kinda waiting to get banned from a bunch like this... and I won't care. I definitely speak to and associate with furries, I think they can be cool people, but the ones that feel like everyone should be forced to see it... I could take or leave that crowd. Just know they do not represent the entire community. Some of us just like speculative fiction... or something like Pokémon or Animal Crossing.
