Afford healthcare? Nah, all the elderly and disabled that cannot keep up with the capitalist grinder, are in prison or victims of the systematic suicide machine. It is like federated extermination camps without the paper trail for accountability. Such is reality of my life after being disabled by a fuckwit. The system you likely imagine to be there, but have not looked into in depth, is not. Big trees rot from the inside.

The problem is fundamentally simple. Gross inherited wealth is societal cancer. Intelligence is not hereditary in humans, but wealth is. There are no real leaders right now, because none of them have meritocratic validity; all inherited their wealth, like this one. Pass on as many upper middle class trust funds as you wish, but no other form of wealth whatsoever is transferrable. That one filter removes every problem name you know. In time it will fix the problem, at the forfeit of us. Japan is the only western aligned culture that is already inherited-wealth-cancer free. At the present, they are the only country that survives long term. The succession crisis that killed monarchy exists in all of the upper class, and is just as toxic.

I don't think it would fix every problem, but I really do think a 100% estate tax for everything over $1M would really help.

(Actually, instead of an arbitrary $1M, let's cap it at 138,000x the federal minimum hourly wage. That's currently about the same amount, but tying it to the minimum wage will help it adjust for inflation over time and will give those rich fucks some motivation to finally increase the minimum wage.)

That's, what, 66 years of salary at minimum wage? Is that per inheritor or per estate? (I don't know how estate tax works)

That’s, what, 66 years of salary at minimum wage?

Makes sense, in that context. If someone worked minimum wage for their entire life and somehow saved every penny, then they could leave it all to their heirs without getting hit by this 100% estate tax.

Is that per inheritor or per estate?

Per estate. The estate pays estate taxes. Inheritors (usually) don't have to pay any taxes on what they inherit. (Though they may have to pay income tax on it in certain specific situations, and some states impose an inheritance tax on inheritors that's separate from estate tax.)
