I used to think that too. First with Kbin, then Lemmy, next Sublinks, finally PieFed, but recently my faith in continued progress has been shaken and now I don't know what to think. What will be will be I suppose. We can have whatever we desire if only we are willing to work towards it, which seems to be the sticking point.
I think the different Threadiverse options popping up show the demand for the Threadiverse, and that people are willing to put in that work.
I guess I'm patient. I see progress happening, even if slow. If the Lemmy/Threadiverse experience doesn't change much over the next 10 years then I'm not worried. I have a nice curated experience and find plenty of cool people to chat with (such as the present company), and am not in a rush to turn it into something different.
That is a great perspective. People often say how they want the Threadiverse to grow so I tend to push back in saying that I don't think that we will so much... but you are saying that being happy is the first and foremost concern and growth only secondary to that. I agree! 👍
