And the worst part is how they refuse to listen to me. I'll help people get off big tech. I'll help them learn what the internet actually is and how web 3.0 is shit and ruined everything. But they won't listen to me and just make fun of me. Their loss. I wish i had smarter friends.

You can't expect to get normal people on nerd stuff like this just like that. I drop references to distributed social media and the nerd thing I do and wait for them to get curious.

Computers and online life stopped being "nerd stuff" maybe what , 15 years ago? This is essential knowledge thats embedded in everyone's life, work, leisure time, friends, everything.

People are driving an f1 car when all they've ever done is ridden a tricycle.

many people have not used computers much outside of their smatphone. I know them. Many others are not real good with non standard things. Heck I can't get them to use password managers. Now granted they will. Maybe. Eventually. Many of them could not handle making facebook accounts or their own email (work ones were setup for them)

Yep very true. I could say the same about other stuff too like clothes (people wear them every day but they have no idea how to use a loom! Idiots!!).

I feel like its a lot easier to learn simple tech than to make clothes though, thats just me.

I think fashion would be more apt. people know how to wear clothes but many people don't know how to dress well or look good or be up on fashion.

Oh very true, I'm one of those. I do hate the fact that clothes are still made in awful sweatshops and its hard to find any that aren't. Buying used helps but I cant do that for everything.
