Comic Strips
Comic Strips is a community for those who love comic stories.
Rules
-
π Be Nice!
- Treat others with respect and dignity. Friendly banter is okay, as long as it is mutual; keyword: friendly.
-
ποΈ Community Standards
- Comics should be a full story, from start to finish, in one post.
- Posts should be safe and enjoyable by the majority of community members, both here on lemmy.world and other instances.
- Any comic that would qualify as raunchy, lewd, or otherwise draw unwanted attention by nosy coworkers, spouses, or family members should be tagged as NSFW.
- Moderators have final say on what and what does not qualify as appropriate. Use common sense, and if need be, err on the side of caution.
-
𧬠Keep it Real
- Comics should be made and posted by real human beans, not by automated means like bots or AI. This is not the community for that sort of thing.
-
π½οΈ Credit Where Credit is Due
- Comics should include the original attribution to the artist(s) involved, and be unmodified. Bonus points if you include a link back to their website. When in doubt, use a reverse image search to try to find the original version. Repeat offenders will have their posts removed, be temporarily banned from posting, or if all else fails, be permanently banned from posting.
- Attributions include, but are not limited to, watermarks, links, or other text or imagery that artists add to their comics to use for identification purposes. If you find a comic without any such markings, it would be a good idea to see if you can find an original version. If one cannot be found, say so and ask the community for help!
-
π Post Formatting
- Post an image, gallery, or link to a specific comic hosted on another site; e.g., the author's website.
- Meta posts about the community should be tagged with [Meta] either at the beginning or the end of the post title.
- When linking to a comic hosted on another site, ensure the link is to the comic itself and not just to the website; e.g.,
β Correct: https://xkcd.com/386/
β Incorrect: https://xkcd.com/
-
π¬ Post Frequency/SPAM
- Each user (regardless of instance) may post up to five (5 π) comics a day. This can be any combination of personal comics you have written yourself, or other author's comics. Any comics exceeding five (5 π) will be removed.
-
π΄ββ οΈ Internationalization (i18n)
- Non-English posts are welcome. Please tag the post title with the original language, and include an English translation in the body of the post; e.g.,
SΓ, por favor [Spanish/EspaΓ±ol]
- Non-English posts are welcome. Please tag the post title with the original language, and include an English translation in the body of the post; e.g.,
-
πΏ Moderation
- We are human, just like most everybody else on Lemmy. If you feel a moderation decision was made in error, you are welcome to reach out to anybody on the moderation team for clarification. Keep in mind that moderation decisions may be final.
- When reporting posts and/or comments, quote which rule is being broken, and why you feel it broke the rules.
Banned Artists
The following artists are banned from the community.
- Jago
- Stonetoss
- GPrime85
It should be noted that when you make reports, it is your responsibility to provide rational reasoning why something should be removed. Saying it simply breaks community rules is not always good enough.
Web Accessibility
Note: This is not a rule, but a helpful suggestion.
When posting images, you should strive to add alt-text for screen readers to use to describe the image you're posting:
Another helpful thing to do is to provide a transcription of the text in your images, as well as brief descriptions of what's going on. (example)

When you don't vote you are making it easier for the candidate you hate most to win.
The trick is to vote against the worst candidate.
Voting for the second worst candidate every fucking time for decades because there is no one better is how we slid so far to the right that one party is openly fascist and the other refuses to stop supporting genocide.
No, citizens United did that. Voting third party is a waste because 60% of voters will always vote red or blue because that's their identity. We can only do damage mitigation until we get ranked choice voting.
The primary is where you get a say. Everywhere else is rigged and they don't care if you waste your vote.
Is it?
I respect your position, but I think it's more complex than that. There's a phrase I like to quote, which says "If vote were able to change anything, it would be illegal". Think about it: It doesn't matter if you vote Trump, Biden, Harris or Lisa Simpson: you'll always get a new war, bigger debt, worsen economy and less freedom.
That makes a ton of sense. That must be why the GOP works so hard to disenfranchise votersβbecause they know that it's utterly meaningless. Your position is ill-considered to the point of idiocy.
You're so angry man, hahaha. I'm glad I ruined your day π€ . And regarding your non-rational answer, let me tell you that "GOP works so hard" (or cheat, if you prefer) just to win, in the same way that two CocaCola employees compete for a promotion, but regardless on which one wins, the company will keep producing CocaCola. I know this might be too complex and hard to understand for your undeveloped low IQ brain, but if you want I can make a little doodle that can be helpful
I wish I were lucky enough to be equally negatively impacted based on who gets elected. But unfortunately, when Republicans win I suffer more than when Democrats win.
Yeah we'll get more wars. Yeah we'll be capitalist. Yeah, not everything will be solved. But my life was better, and now it's worse. And it's because not enough people chose to vote against the worse of the two.
Not at all: when you vote you're accepting the rules. You're telling the people in power "I accept the terms and conditions: the one who wins owns me". And at the same time the one who wins is owned by higher powers, like banksters. In order to make a real change that bring prosperity for all, there might be an American Revolution II, and that's something that is not voted. But this time, that revolution has to be made for cleaning the country deeply. It doesn't have to be violent, France already did that rebooting their country 4 times (is currently going for the 5th Republic, and nowadays they need to reboot again, because it's not working anymore).
And when you don't accept the rules they don't care about you, it's a lose-lose situation
All of that is in your head. The people in charge don't care if you vote. When you don't vote, they win more easily.
Your life is worse because "vote for second worst" stopped working. You can blame the voters all you want. But you're not getting an electorate that votes for genocidal candidates just because they're the second worst genocidal piece of shit.
Change or it'll happen again. Or blame me for noticing and keep your hands over the burner.
You're not wrong, but that's also impossible without moving to ranked choice voting.
In America, we get two choices and both suck. You have to vote for the least bad. Third party literally can't win because 60% of people vote for a party like it's a sports team and will never change.
Your recommendation prevents damage mitigation and cannot succeed.
How's that been working out for you? Because from here it looks like "we suck and we're never going to fix it now shut up and vote for genocide and like it" hasn't worked.
Ok. Propose an alternative that would actually realistically work.
Democrats are currently fighting it instead of fighting republicans.
