I'm not sure what's stranger in an enlightened future.
People still being shamed for having sex for pleasure, or people still being ashamed of having sex for pleasure.
If sci-fi tends to agree on anything, and it's right, it's that our religiously based, puritanical sexual hangups are hilariously stupid vestiges of ignorant times.
I always assumed the lower rank, younger crew on Star Trek fuck like rabbits with abandon on their off hours, with rank appropriate and/or holo partners. They're isolated co-ed ships how could they not? Might as well just surrender to the borg if you're ashamed of pleasure.
The Warp core isn't the only thing that needs to have its pressure regularly relieved to operate at peak efficiency.
What's strangest to me is that they still haven't figured out soundproofing. You'd think isolating compartments on a space vessel would be given higher importance on one of the most advanced ships in the fleet.
There was an episode of this on Lower Decks where Boimler got put in a room next to the HoloDecks

Wait, if you were in a hotel, or in your office at work, and you heard someone fucking loudly in the next room, you wouldnt be distracted or at all annoyed by that?
It's not that I think Jesus is displeased or some shit like that, it's that I don't want to hear other people.
I wouldn't want to hear someone loudly shitting either, much as I understand everybody poops. It's not that it's obscene, it's that it's private. The noise isn't for general consumption.
I chuckle a bit if I hear sex in the room over at a hotel or where ever. I have headphones if I need to focus on something/someone's taking a loud shit, I genuinely don't care.
I don't think it's a person's job to live quietly so others can pretend they don't exist, especially when we have control over our own ears.

Obviously I was extending the analogy to prove a point, but if someone is cool with playing music loudly in public, and assuming it's other people's job to block it out, I don't know why I assumed you had the critical thinking ability to understand at all.

Nah, noise in general is annoying when I'm trying to work. I like listening to music, but I'd be annoyingly distracted if a radio was on in the office.

Edit: Just to be clear - I agree with your point about shaming, I just don't understand the relation to this which was meant as more of a joke in the context of the situation.
