Getting an error when trying to upload an avatar (vlemmy.net)

SyntaxError: JSON.parse: unexpected character at line 1 column 1 of the JSON data

This is the error I'm getting in a red banner when trying to upload an avatar (512x512px, 39kb jpeg file). Was able to upload the same image to lemmy.world (which currently uses BE 0.17.4) without any errors.

I still can’t upload photos to posts or comments.

I can't upload either right now - tried with a gif, a png and a jpeg files. Keep getting this for an error:

SyntaxError: JSON.parse: unexpected character at line 1 column 1 of the JSON data

Are you on any other instances at version 18 you can try?
