Keys are not the only thing that can cause scratches I never have key in my pocket still I geht tons of micro scratches over time.

Sand. Sand particles are everywhere. Ane sand is msde of quartz which is hard enough to scratch any smartphone's screen (unless they start making them of sapphire).
