Working in IT, we see this so much. People switch to the passive voice when reporting a damaged device. "My laptop fell off a cliff." "Water spilled on my tablet."
No OP, you dropped your phone in front of a bus. The bus didn't just roll over it on its own, unless you were rolled over too.
That said, awesome pics. Phone held up pretty well.
They said they forgot it on the back of the car, how is that passive?
