I just bought a 77โ€ Sony A80L and Im wondering if the Apple 4K Tv device is necessary to improve anything?

Absolutely 100% NO!!! Waste of time and money....your tv UI is sufficient. But if you want to go down that route that's ok....but it will not necessarily improve anything much at this stage. Maybe in a couple of years of TV ownership.
