Why is Dale Earnhardt so frequently used in memes like this? Is it for some inscrutable Internet Reason, or is he actually a pretty pro-worker guy?

Dale was at least known to be a pretty stand up guy. Removed a confederate sticker off his truck after a black friend of his told him it was hurtful.
