Why not pick up Fields 5th year and draft a QB first also? (alien.top)

is it not possible to pick up Fields fifth year option to keep them around for another year, while you draft the top QB prospect? You could then trade whichever one doesn’t work out. sounds crazy but crazier things have been done. Any thoughts?

bears need decide to pick up the option after this season, not the next. That’s how the 5th year option works.

Yeah, but he's on the team next year whether they pick up the 5th year or not. Are you saying to sit the new QB for 2 seasons?

one year isn’t enough to fully evaluate a rookie qb, so yeah
