I don’t understand how so many teams accidentally stumble across their franchise QBs and yet the bears can’t seem to make anything work. The niners literally managed to pick a better QB than we have ever had with the last pick in the draft. I understand that this team is being held back by coaching but Jesus Christ how is Jordan love already outperforming Justin fields when this was supposed to be his breakout year. Being a bears fan is never ending pain 😔

Poles has made 3 trade deadline or near TDL moves in Roquan, Claypool, and Sweat. All for 2nd rounders

The standard strategy in the NFL has been that only the best teams in the league or most desperate teams make TDL moves. So there were limited moves, these days there are more trades. Why?

I don’t think that Poles or the FO see’s the team that way, so are they using a newer strategy of trying to use a market inefficiency in lowish cost to trade for NFL caliber players in their prime and leverage their loads of cap space to resign them. As opposed to taking shots in the 2nd?

Are they just dumb or desperate or is it a strategy? Thoughts?

This by far Mahomes worst season statistically. 22 tds and 10 ints are still good numbers but Mahomes had put up outrageous stats nearly every season.

Knowing there have been plenty of posts about current issues and/or theory crafting the future, wanted to try a different type of post.

What was your most memorable holiday gift/experience/ memory surrounding the Bears?

Happy Holiday Season to All.

Let’s say the Bears land the #1 Draft pick. How would you all feel if we traded down with Washington for two #1’s (this year and next years and a 3rd this year)? This would allow us to still grab top tier talent and even maybe still draft MHJ. Building more draft capital and setting us up for more success.

I am not sold on Caleb Williams and definitely not sold on Maye (thank Trubisky). Also, I think we can do well picking a QB in the earlier rounds or waiting until next year.

Fields needs to work on getting rid of the ball and anticipating his throws to help create space. He has a tendency to throw at receivers vs leading them. This is why he takes too many sacks.

The defense is coming along and putting more offensive weapons on the field is never a bad thing. I am for letting Fields play out his contract and seeing what he can do with two top tier WR’s and a better O-line. Not saying we have a stout line but it is marginally better than last years.

Hey y’all I’ve trying to get a summary of what the hell happened this year I’ve been on deployment on an air craft Carrier for the last 7 months. Bears suck is pretty much all I know.

Edit:Did everyone give up on Fields I see a lot of QB prospect posts on here?

Today's Panthers-Bucs game is crazy important, historically teams often see a bump post firing their coach and the Bucs are not good. There's a bit of a buffer where the Panthers can win one game and still give us the first overall but they have a piss easy schedule and I don't see any chance the Patriots win another game.

The Panthers as well are pretty committed to Bryce Young while I've never seen a qb shitshow as bad as the Mac/Zappe situation in NE right now.

DET 2x, MIN 2x, GB 2x, LAR, AZ, SF, SEA, HOU, TEN, IND, JAX

Assuming the Bears finish 4th in the division (most likely), they would play the 4th place finishers of the NFC East and NFC South.

The NFC South 4th place finisher is gonna be the Panthers, and for the NFC East it’s really between the Giants and Commanders but I think it’ll be the commanders.

The Bears will play the 17th game against the same place finisher of the AFC East, so that will probably end up being New England.

Home games: DET, MIN, GB, LAR, SEA, TEN, JAX

Away games: DET, MIN, GB, AZ, SF, HOU, IND

As for the place-finish based games, I’m not sure how the NFL determines where those are played but either 1 or 2 will be at home.

Like I said I’m willing to bet it ends up being NE, WAS, & CAR for those three

Do we think this is a favorable schedule for next year?

Say what you want about Ryan Poles, but this could be the best situation a No.1 draft quarterback has come into in a while. Roster looks like an up and coming one

I think the top quarterbacks in this draft has to look at the bears roster and say send me there

Hi all!

It's been a while since we last had a chat. We're sure you've all noticed how reactionary the sub has been recently. And more than a few of you have expressed concern.

So, let's talk! We hope that you'll use this opportunity to join in a community-wide conversation. Ask your questions, raise your concerns, offer ideas, etc...

Recently you asked about adding the polling function to the subreddit. We recognise that having endless polls would lead to a "tsunami of polls", thus we'd like to discuss Ryan Poles Day(s). We're thinking once or twice a month we enable the option to use the poll function. What do you think?

Make it make sense? Or maybe he has had idiotic coordinators with shitty plays and shitty receivers.

I didn’t really know what else to call it aside from role players, I know that’s more of a basketball term but you get the point.

I’ll start with a couple:

2015: Jeremy Langford

2016: Cameron Meredith

2017: Dontrelle Inman (can’t believe he was Trubisky’s WR1 in year one lol)

Those are just to name a few. Also these players weren’t favorites of mine but does anyone else remember Chris Prosinski and Buster Skrine lol? They weren’t good for the Bears but anytime you think our secondary today is lacking, just think back to them

Stay competitive and still roll dice on finding something special. Keep trading for future picks until QB RNG cashes in at later rounds. All while staying ahead of the league on draft capital and rookie contracts. I can't handle a top pick QB flopping right now.

Every time we talk about Justin Fields, the question is, can he become a franchise QB? I think we should stop using the phrase franchise QB, because it sets unrealistically high expectations in some people minds, because many people interpret that word to mean Justin Fields has to play at a Hall Of Fame level or be the next Patrick Mahomes.

So lets change the wording. Lets ask, instead, can Justin Fields play as well and have similar success to Lamar Jackson? Meaning, if we brought in coaches to build a system around Justin like Lamar has a system built around him in Baltimore, can Justin play to the same level that Lamar is playing at?

I suspect that a lot more people would probably say yes to that question, than would say yes to the question of can Justin Fields be a franchise QB.

Now, interestingly, Lamar Jackson probably is a franchise QB. So it is interesting that people would much more likely view it as possible for Justin Fields to play like Lamar Jackson than they would to play like a franchise QB. It goes back to my original point, that the word franchise QB comes with a whole set of unfair expectations with it, and that we should stop using it for Justin Fields.

some say he needs more people and the staff is not helping him and if he had more help around him he would score more points and win more games more o line help and another receiver !

I’m making a few assumptions here..

  • We move on from JF1

  • JJ gets the tag

  • EJax & Whitehair are cut. Mooney is let go.

With that, I think the Bears have 6 main holes to fill this offseason (in no particular order).

  1. QB1

  2. C

  3. WR2

  4. DE2

  5. FS

  6. 3T

A few thoughts on this…

  • Bears can likely fill 2 of these spots with the first round rookies. If by chance they trade back, they’ll likely recoup a high 2nd that can immediately contribute.

  • This is a strong draft at the top for QB, WR, OT

  • The FA class (pending) has some great names at WR, S and DL. Bears will have close to $90m in cap to spend (again).

How do ya’ll see it playing out? Any names you are high on?
