Niin elikkäs. Tämä on mun ensimmäinen postaus Lemmyyn enkä nyt ihan ymmärrä miten koko homma toimii? Ilmeisesti tämä menee nyt tänne Sopuliin joka on... kuin subreditti vai? Ja mikä on sen yllä? (Tätä järjestelmää en ihan ymmärtänyt) Myös, huomaan että täällä puhutaan englantia... r/suomi karkulaisena etsin paikkaa puhua suomeksi.

So. This is first post on Lemmy. I don't fully graps the concept. So, appently now I'm posting here in Sopuli... which is like a Subreddit...? But what is above that? Also english is fine but as a r/suomi refugee I was hoping for more finnish.

Lemme isn't centralized while Reddit is. In practice that means there's a lot of "reddits", every one of which has its own sub reddits, server to handle users, storage for posts and so on. Then all of those servers are connected between each other so while your account is in one instance (Soupli) you're still able to access sub reddits from different instances. If you look up the channels (sub reddits) available you'll see they have @ part which shows where the channel is located.
