All we've been asking for is him to show he has the ability to win a game with the ball in his hands in the final 2 minutes. He played okay despite the play-calling and had 2 bad fumbles.
But he got them in position to win the game so none of that other stuff really matters.
He put up 12 points when his defense turned the other team over four times. Doesn’t make it okay just because the other offense was worse. Fields has to go
How are you going to set fields up as the problem when every play was him passing behind the line of scrimmage? Dude literally had barely any intermediate, ‘read the field’ kinda plays. Just screen, run, screen for every set of downs tonight
This is the main issue of this argument. We have to be able to properly understand both Fields and Getsy are issues. It is not just one or the other here.
Yes, Getsy has a horrible game plan and it was so bad that even Buck and Aikman were laughing out loud at the repeated failure of screen after screen after screen.
But that had zero impact upon Fields fumbling twice, on back to back drives in the 4th quarter with the game on the line. And those fumbles are 100% all on him, just like many of his other previous fumbles. He uses really bad technique when he runs the ball, and he’s careless with it in situations where ball security is priority #1.
He is fortunate that the defense was balling out, or last night would have been another loss in the division due to his inability to be clutch.
Think of it this way: if Getsy was fired tomorrow, and we brought in a new OC. Does that make Fields more clutch than he is now? Does it help solve his turnover problems? Does it remediate his concerning injury history? Does it make him a QB that can win solely from the pocket if needed?
Good things to consider when you’re evaluating the team, it isn’t just one or the other
