Men's undies have a flap for their dick to poke through (for peeing purposes and possibly also other purposes)

Really? Well I'm from Utica and I've never seen men's undies with a 'dick hole'.
The world is bigger than just the us, sounds like it's a us thing then
I'm fairly certain some or most of my partner's boxers & trunks have a dick hole. Certainly the boxers do.
I wash them, I should really know this for sure..
