OK, bot has now been given a process management system to help run continually and not crash completely if there is an error. Not sure if it will help with the not posting at/after midnight issue, but it can't hurt and will give me a bit more information.
I have instructed the bot to post at 11:55, but after past failures am much less hopeful it will actually work โน๏ธ I've added in a few more test posts elsewhere at various intervals to try and get some more information about what is going wrong. At the moment the theory that the cat is sabotaging it seems as likely as anything else. It is very frustrating that every single test I do works perfectly, and the actual post doesn't.
FWIW one of my peeves with the way it worked on reddit is that a new thread at midnight can interrupt the thread conversations for night owls. I feel like a 4 AM time for the new thread would be good.
Midnight is a clear break between one day and the next. 4am is arbitrary.
I picked it as a solid guess as to when most people are offline. Not arbitrary at all.
I've just made a cuppa so I will hopefully still be awake. C'mon Midnight bot we're cheering for ya!

I love having a night coffee (or 5). If I could only have one drink for the rest of my life, I'd pick coffee. I'm literally making one right now โ๏ธ๐
I love coffee! Isnโt this going to make it hard to sleep tonight having one so late or it doesnt really affect you? Maybe I should start investing in decaf.
My sleep cycle is very fucked up, so I often stay up all night and day to reset it.
I also kind of used it to get off the cigarettes... it's caffeinated and I won't be able to sleep, but also yolo ๐คทโโ๏ธ๐
I do that, too. Coffee doesn't stop me from sleeping, though.
My favourite type of nap is the coffee-overdose nap. Usually happens after the 8th or 9th mug, the tired takes over, conk out for a few hours, and wake up in a confused daze. ๐๐

I'm just about falling asleep. Maybe I'm actually telepathically controlling the program, and it fails when I am asleep and can't control it? That would be very inconvenient.
Like when you were a kid and you believed that your toys moved when you fell asleep? Toy Story confirmed they do.

I've got it doing posts to the test community at 10:50 & 11:50, the main post at 11:55, posts to another community on another instance at midnight and 5 minutes later. I've already done multiple tests to everywhere, the only thing I can think of is that it has to be something about the specific times. Hopefully I will get enough information to figure out where to go from here.

Its the best theory I have right now. She's trying to look disinterested, but she definitely has a keyboard obsession she's not been able to hide, so being a closet hacker is something I wouldn't put past her.
What disturbs me most is how innocently they seem to do it.
Not a guilty bone in their conscience.
