Now that the old Hexbear fork has been officially abandoned, this community will be used as a space for meta-discussion on the site itself.

MODERATORS

db0 and Unruffled have both been banned for reactionary behavior and, in the case of the former, DM harassment.

Due to these irreconcilable differences we thought it only right to allow the community to weigh in on defederating immediately.

According to this person "tankie" is anyone that criticizes the privilege of white westerners in the imperial core who have been privileged and comfortable their entire lives off of the backs of colonized people.

As always, use dean-smile to vote for federation and dean-frown to vote for defederation.

Can’t they just make a hexbear account if they want to post? We aren’t really punishing anyone

I interact with I don't even know how many instances, I couldn't be bothered to make an account for every one of them honestly. If one of them would defederate from mine, I would just stop interacting. I guess it's the same for the well-meaning users on there too, it's way easier to have a single account to interact with (almost) any instance. And people are generally lazy, too.

Federation is one of the biggest advantages of lemmy and ActivityPub software IMO. Instances shouldn't defederate on a whim (considering the admins, who were the libs in this case, have been banned)

BTW my main point was that the vast majority of people interacting from db0 are well-meaning and not brainwormed libs (funnily enough the worst offenders were the admins) I don't think we should discourage them from participating on hexbear just because their admins are assholes.

if they don’t like the content enough to make a new account are they really losing much? Seems like they would see our stuff as pretty much just the upper tier of normal at best then
