With kbin, for example, you can go to kbin.social/d/beehaw.org and view the entirety of Beehaw's communities within kbin itself. I know that you can subscribe to particular communities on other instances, but I'd like to be able to view all of kbin's domain from within Beehaw on one page. Just wondering if Lemmy has this same ability to do so, or if this is currently a unique feature for kbin?

Okay, I saw this post from beehaw, but I wanted to comment from the kbin side because I was surprised that this is a kbin functionality. This is so cool! Seems like it's a kbin only thing for now. Will definitely use it in the future.

I should probably start considering contributing to KBin's code base. It seems like truly ambitious software and I'd love to see it mature to the level of Lemmy

Just tried that feature with Kbin but one downside is that it shows you posts made to other instances if it was posted by a user of the instance you’re browsing.

So if you wanted to see /d/Star Trek.website you’d get all the Star Trek posts… but also other random things that Star Trek.website people have posted anywhere else.

At the moment I’ve been creating separate users for the few instances that I want to be able to focus in on (such as beehaw) then I can just browse with Local and then a general Kbin one for bits and bobs.

I've been looking for a feature like this too. I found an interesting sub on another instance and I wanted to browse the rest of the communities but I couldn't figure out how.

I'm trying to figure out the same! I can browse a specific kbin community through beehaw if a kbin user... posted to beehaw... and then I saw a kbin community on their profile and clicked through... but other than that very specific situation, I can't figure it out. I want to subscribe to specific kbin communities and have no idea how to do it in a less roundabout (and often impossible) way.

No, I don't believe such a feature exists as of right now, because indexing of Lemmy federated servers happen community by community.

It might be a nice to have for sure, along with tag groups, multi-communities and stuff like that.

There are likely more communities available on an instance that kbin does not know about. I think that list is limited to what kbin has indexed and cached based on user activity. The downside to such a list is that a user may think it is exhaustive.
